[LIFE] The End…?

Hi guys 🙂

Lately, I’m questioning where my belonging in this community stands. I don’t really know what kind of blogger I am, what my unique reading point is for everyone and if I’m the kind of blogger that brands want to work with and people enjoy reading. At first, I started this blog because I really enjoyed writing it and I wanted to share my creative outlet online, even if no one was reading. But now, I feel like as blogs become more common, there is so much competition and pressure to be a certain blogger to attract brands and readers, and I seem to find it more of a ‘Things to tick off my To-Do list’ than a pastime activity that I look forward to.. I have been blogging for over two years now, and I may have gained multiple followers and some loyal readers who make me very happy, but I feel like most other bloggers have gone so much further in a shorter amount of time or the same amount as me and that doesn’t make me feel too great, even though I know it’s not about the follower count, or how many brands you work with, or the amount of likes you get. I check my statistics everyday, read blogs daily and absorb tips on how to become a better blogger all the time….

If I’m honest with you, I have considered starting a new blog with a completely different writing style and making myself more of an established blogger. But then, I have come quite far with this blog so it would be a shame to delete it and start a new one, which could also fail.

Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m not suited for blogging? Blogging is not supposed to be a competition but I feel so down when I don’t get a comment on a post I worked really hard on, or when I see how well other bloggers are doing. Maybe it’s time to find myself a new hobby…

What do you guys think? Have you ever felt like this? Shall I take a break in the hope for more inspiration and then write again?

Thanks for reading, sorry if this post made no sense and was too much for your brain!

You, missy, are definitely suited to blogging. From what I’ve found it’s normal to get a bit lost because it is such a subjective thing and you really have to be in the mood. I for one love your blog and it’s one of my favourites that pop up in my reader 🙂 xxx

    • Kavi says:

Thank you Roshni. I guess, it’s such a short amount of time that I’ve decided this so I hope it wells over 🙂 I read blogs everyday which I still enjoy, I just want to blog without the feeling of pressure looming over me and enjoy it again! Thank you, that means a lot and does boost my confidence. It does mean a lot that you read my posts 🙂 xxx

      • roshnimistry says:

No worries 🙂 I try to make the most of it when I’m in the mood to write and I try not to be too hard on myself when I’m not in the mood, no one wants to read something that’s forced and if you yourself aren’t happy with it then that kind of makes your decision for you! I love reading your blog anyway, so I hope whatever decision you make you are happy with 🙂 xxx

I think I feel the same as you – seeing my views so low and seeing people post so regularly makes me feel like I have to post, and it’s really not about that… Thank you! I really love reading yours too, and will continue to even if I stop blogging xxx

      • roshnimistry says:

Exactly, it’s a hard balance to get right I think. I really like the style of your blog, it’s very honest, genuine and chatty…which is what I aim for mine to be too 🙂 obviously selfishly I don’t want you to stop! xxx

      • Kavi says:

Thank you, I always enjoy reading yours because you are so down to earth and genuine, and your posts are so original – they never fail to make me giggle! Haha, thanks so so much Roshni!xxx

Okay, first of all I think you’re totally suited for blogging and I always enjoy reading your blog. In fact, your blog was one of the first I started reading religiously when I first started blogging. Even though I don’t have that much experience I think we all have our ups and downs with our blogs sometimes and sometimes you just wanna quit because you’re unhappy with your blog and you constantly compare yourself to other bloggers. Maybe you should take a little break and try to remind yourself of why you started blogging in the first place. I think you’ve definitely come far with your blog and it would be such a shame to quit. I’d definitely miss seeing your posts in my reader, so I hope you continue blogging and stop comparing yourself to others 🙂 everyone’s unique in their own way! 🙂

    • Kavi says:

Thanks Sophie! Wow, that’s incredible- means a lot to me! You have done so so well, I have enjoyed every single one of your blog posts and you are growing so much. I’m glad it’s not just me who feels like this.. Thank you! That’s definitely what I will be doing, hopefully I can clear my mind and really get this blog the way I like it, and something I am proud of. Thank you for always being here to support me Sophie xxx

      • Sophie says:

You’re more than welcome! Well, it’s my honest opinion and if that helps you to maybe keep blogging I thought I’d better tell you haha! Thank you!:) See, even though you think my blog is growing a lot I sometimes feel unhappy about it and compare myself to others too much, which gets me down. I think everyone struggles at times.
But I hope you find the joy in blogging again and I think you can be totally proud of your blog already! 🙂 No problem. That’s what blogging friends are for, right? 😉 xxx

      • Kavi says:

Exactly the same with me! I guess everyone can relate.
Thank you! I will, hopefully, I think I am going to make a few changes around here and then will be back on track 🙂 yes, they are! 😀 thanks again lovely xxx

aww don’t quit! I think it’s natural to have off days/weeks.
I’ve only been blogging a short time and at first I got obsessed with statistics and followers especially comparing against blogs who started at the same time and had triple my digits but then I decided to step back from numbers and focus on my writing.
Even if it’s only my mum who reads it, that’s fine by me 😉
Maybe take a few weeks to find your voice again. Email brand PR departments and attend blogger events to get seen.
I think since blogs are becoming the voice of this age it’s easy to get lost in the maze but if you speak true to you and push forwards I’m sure you’ll find you’re passion for blogging again 🙂

I’m glad you feel like that! That’s a great thing to have when blogging, I wish I could do that too! Aha, my mum is my best reader 😉 I think I will, I have lots of exams coming up too so it’s probably best. I have tried emailing brands but I haven’t really been approached by any, which I’m a little disappointed about! Definitely, that’s exactly how I feel. I hope soon I will be able to get back into it and feel like I have a future with this blog! Your comment has helped me see hope, so thank you Bex! I will definitely be catching up on your blog in a bit 🙂 x

    • Kavi says:

Wow, thank you Gracie! I was reading your blog today and I really liked it, so this means a lot 🙂 I will have a good think about this but hopefully some sense will come to me!xx

Hi! This blog is amazing! I think the best thing is to take a break and come back refresh! You are suited for blogging and i like reading your post! Remember your blog is your blog, it is unique and YOU!
    🙂
Hope you make the right decision!

    • Kavi says:

Hello, thank you! I think that’s what I will do, maybe everyone feels like this sometimes..? Thank you, I’m glad you feel so! I will have a think about this and hopefully I will feel better with time. Thanks again x

Please don’t stop your blog! Loads of us read it and love it so much and support you in everything you do! Everyone is different, and so are their blogs, so don’t compare yourself to others! We’ll all really miss your blogs. You are definitely suited to blogging in my opinion! 🙂

  6. Catherine says:

To be honest I’d say your blog is one of the most successful ones on WordPress in my mind, you have a load of lovely readers and post a load of great posts reguarly but I guess success varies from person to person. I totally relate to how you feel though and sometimes it can feel like a chore or you post something you think is great but actually it’s not a very popular post. Usually when I feel like this I take a week or two away from my blog. Starting a new blog is always hard, when I changed the name and address of my blog my stats dropped significantly for the following months and you end up comparing it to your previous stats, thus feeling even worse. So basically if I were you I’d take a short break, usually by the end of it I’m twice as enthusiatic and full of ideas xx
PS. Please don’t stop blogging; I love your blog 😉

    • Kavi says:

Catherine, that is so lovely of you to say, that makes me so chuffed to here – thank you so much!! Exactly how I feel, and sometimes I think well what’s the point then.. I’m going to take a slightly longer break I think, with exams coming up too it’s probably the best time to! That’s interesting to know, ahh that is annoying. I will makes changes but not change names I think! Haha, thank you so much! You know I love and religiously read your blog too, so this means a lot 🙂

  7. evbbeauty says:

Kavi, you are most definitely suited to blogging and I know that many people, including myself, will be distraught to not find you and your wonderful posts coming up on their reader if you stop blogging. I know I have not had much experience but when I took a break from blogging I realised how much I missed it and started again; maybe you just need some time to figure out what direction you want your blog to go in, in the near future. I know the feeling of being disappointed when you don’t receive as many comments and likes as you want to or others get, but there is always going to be someone better than you so there is no point comparing yourself to others. Please, please listen to me and the many bloggers who have commented up there because I don’t know where I’d be without your blog: mine would definitely be non-existent without yours!

    Esther xx

    • Kavi says:

Wow, thank you Esther!! True, very true- I’d miss it lots but sometimes I don’t want to do a post but I feel like I have to.. Yeah, it sucks- I guess it happens a lot though because sometimes blog posts aren’t as successful as we hope! AWW hehe that’s lovely of you, I am glad to have inspired you hehe, so I will take a little break away and smack some sense into me 😉 thank you Esther!xxx

I felt the exact same way! I’ve just come back from a two month hiatus and I’ve gone back all guns blazing! My break helped me to focus on other things and to find joy in writing my blog again, as I was feeling so burnt out before! Take a break, see if you want to revisit blogging in the future, whatever you feel is right! x Arielle

Noooo! I’ve only been blogging for a couple of months and am still trying to find my place but your blog is already made up, there’s not one of your followers that would disagree because I love your posts no matter what the content! I really enjoy reading your blog because you are one of the people that I follow who have mastered the art of great writing and great content. I would definitely miss seeing your posts so please don’t quit or atleast just make it a temporary break to rediscover what you want to write rather than scrapping it all! Don’t compare yourself to others bc you’re perfect how you are! Xoxo

    • Kavi says:

Your blog is so so great though, you’re so unique and original and I always look forward to reading your post! Wowww, thank you so much! That is amazing, I can’t believe you think that. I will take a little break and see what I think after, but thank you so much, you have made me see reasons to keep blogging!xoxo

I think you’re a wonderful blogger and should definitely keep at it! Try not to compare yourself to others. It only matters what you think of your blog. It’s all about you, not about them. 🙂

  11. Kaily says:

Hang in there. The only reason you should ever quit anything is cause you don’t love it anymore, or it causes more harm than good. But, girl, I know exactly how you feel. Let me tell you how I deal with the comparing yourself to other bloggers blues… I don’t do it. It’s hard, I know. But I figure if I’ve got time to sulk that so and so has 5k followers in 1 yr and I’ve got 300 in 1 yr then I’ve got time to be creating a post or socializing with other bloggers…. as for working with brands? I’m starting to realize that you’ve got to reach out to brands if you want them to work with you… have you tried this? Also consider joining sites like “Brandbacker” where you can apply to review products for free and pick the ones that suit your audience 🙂 Ok now I’m going to get a little self righteous and philosophical on you… It’s ok to change. It’s ok to advance. It’s okay to become a different blogger. You don’t have to scrap 2 years of work and leave 1k+ readers abandoned. What are you feeling? Fashion? Travel? Tips? Self help? Slap a new menu option to the top of your blog and write about something new. You’ll feel more inspired, you’ll attract a new kind of audience, and the audience that you have already will either leave cause they no longer “get you” or they will stay cause they’re right there on the same page 🙂 Also consider doing collabs! When I’m feeling blue, a collab is just the ticket to get me feeling inspired, esp since I don’t want to let me collab partner down 🙂 I hope this helps. Email me if you wanna chat or if you ever want to do a collab at brookebaute@gmail.com. Don’t feel obligated, just know I’m happy to help 🙂

    • Kavi says:

That’s such great advice, thanks so much Kaily! The feeling sucks, and sometimes instead of doing anything about it I complain, which obviously doesn’t help! I am going to try reaching out more to brands and becoming more of engaging blogger! Great idea! I’m thinking changing it up a bit to a lifestyle and beauty blog, with lots of tips and chatty posts! I’m going to change the appearance and delete/edit some of my posts and maybe get a new design.. That will definitely get me back on track! I love collabs, I would be more than happy to do one with you once I have sorted things out. Thank you so much, this advice has really helped! 🙂

  12. cherryblossom15 says:

I completely understand where you’re coming from! I remember when I first started my blog and was reaching milestones like 5 likes and 10 followers and being so happy and proud. But now I often think “why am I not getting as many followers as some people?” or “why didn’t that post get any comments?” I guess it’s all part of the growing competitiveness of the blogging world, especially beauty. But it can be hard to ignore if that makes sense. If you think doing a collab would be a good idea then I’m always around 😉 And if you ever need to talk I’m on twitter! I hope you find your blogging mojo soon because you’re darn good at it and if you stop blogging I’ll really miss you… 😥 I love reading your posts, so please don’t give up too quickly 🙂 xx

    • Kavi says:

Thanks for understanding Tarika! Exactly, at first every little thing made me over the moon but now I just want more all the time 😦 I’m so glad you feel the same as me, it’s exactly how I feel. We should definitely do a collab when I get back on track 😉 Aw, thanks so much lovely! I will be staying for now ❤ xxx

Kavi you can’t stop blogging, your blog is so cool ! I love reading your post ! Of course, you’ll some periods harder than usual but that’s not a reason to stop it. I had mine but I continued. And I know that I’ll have again some hard periods, but I’ll continue because I love blogging ! And I know you love it too. So don’t stop lovely ♡

well, when i lost my access to the internet, yours was the blog I missed reading! I think blogging is turning into more of a business now than a hobby but that doesnt mean you have to follow the trend xx
